Geared Up 6347 Seeks Teens To Join Up

By Hanley Poyer,

WCS student

A local FTC Robotics team has moved into a new location in Oriskany Falls and is looking for new teen members.

Geared Up 6347 has operated out of a home in Clayville for many years. The club recently was welcomed into a new meeting space at Alliance Lodge 1097 on Main Street in Oriskany Falls.

The team is grateful and thanks the Lodge members for hosting them.

Team members in grades 7 through 12 compete in FIRST Robotics tournaments across the state. The team is provided a challenge in September and works collectively to design, build and program a robot.

Along the way team members work collaboratively, participate in outreach within the community, create and maintain an engineering notebook, and problem solve.

New members are being sought to join the current group of five students from Waterville, Rome and New Hartford School Districts. No prior engineering experience is necessary. Students need to want to learn and work through problem solving scenarios.

For more information, contact the team at ftcgearedup@gmail.com.
