Food Programs Discussed

The Mount Markham Central School Board of Education met Tuesday night to discuss new business.
The meeting began with the Oath of Office of the elected boardmembers Phil Casler and Dan Griffiths.
The Board approved a resolution approving Jay Kulczak as the Board of Education President.
The Board approved a resolution approving Phil Casler as the Board of Education Vice President.
Director of Shared Food Services for Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Kate Dorr gave a presentation to the Board about the District's food service options for the upcoming school year.
Dorr reviewed the District's average daily participation and the requirements of the program, from meal structure to employee qualifications.
The District is searching for a Director of Food Services and the summer program meal plan is currently running through BOCES, according to Interim Superintendent Dave Langone.
Dorr made some recommendations for the hiring process and provided some options and recommendations.
Boardmember Kathleen Entwistle asked if it would be better to have a committed in-house employee or someone whose responsibilities were shared with other Districts.
Dorr responded that several Districts have a person dedicated to the position, however by collaborating with other Districts and through BOCES they are able to share meal plans and recipes that can go to help other Districts with less resources.
Boardmember Tom Huxtable asked about an employee's responsibilities and qualifications if they were an MMCSD employee or a BOCES employee.
