Comp Plan Done In 12-18 Months

The Town of Winfield Board met Wednesday night to discuss new business.


MVEDD Community Anthony Marris-Swann spoke to the Board about a comprehensive plan for the Town of Winfield.


Marris- Swann said the plan would be funded through a Department of Environmental Conservation and in-kind contributions from the Town and volunteers from the community.


Residents of the Town and Village of West Winfield are invited to participate in the process expected to take the next 12 to 18 months.


There was a discussion about how the process has progressed to the current point and the Village's and Town's frustration with the inconsistency in developments so far.


The Board held a discussion about declaring the Town of Winfield a Second Amendment Sanctuary.


The official public discussion has been moved to the April Board meeting.

Town resident Tom Huxtable spoke to the Board about the subject and stated he didn't feel it was necessary.


Town Supervisor Bill Miller and Highway Superintendent Doug Jones stated they felt it was important to send a message to Governor Hochul they would not surrender their firearms if legislation from the Governor's office to confiscate guns was approved. ...
