Columbia Solar Updates Finished By Committee

The Town of Columbia has its proposed new Solar regulations under review with a goal of adopting them soon.


Councilman H. Ed Reed said the working group that spent six months updating the town’s commercial Solar regulations has finished; an attorney is reviewing the changes. The law was first adopted about five years ago.


Reed said before the updated version replaces the current one the Board will

have a hearing for review and input by the public.


Next up the town’s commercial Battery Storage law might need to be updated, he said.


Reed said the attorney’s initial response was that the working group of town residents did a tremendous job with the updates.


Herkimer County Legislator Ray Donley said the county has been busy, specifically in approving numerous projects.


Herkimer County is moving forward with a $7 million child center in Ilion. Donley said a new building will be constructed to accommodate several services.


The announcement for a new president of Herkimer Community College is coming soon, he said.


HCC was named the No. 1 two-year college in the state recently.


The college is embarking on a $25 million project to upgrade its athletic facilities.


Al Moxham of West Winfield has been appointed the new 911 coordinator for the county, Donley said. ...
