Clinton Glows With Love

The Village of Clinton was aglow on one of the final evenings of December 2022.

Rachel Bartunek, owner of Almost Local, a gift shop on West Park Row, put together an event called Clinton Aglow.

Area residents purchased luminaries—decorative paper bags with lights inside—at Almost Local. Messages and tributes were written on the luminaries by those who participated.

The money raised by luminary purchases was donated to The Country Pantry in Clark Mills.

The original date of Clinton Aglow was slated for Dec. 23; however, because of the snowstorm and freezing temperatures that weekend, the event was canceled. It was rescheduled for the next week.

On Friday, Dec. 30 from 7 p.m. to midnight, the luminaries were placed around the Village Green. The gazebo steps, a sidewalk and the wall of the fountain were lined with luminaries.

The Facebook post for Clinton Aglow mentioned that the holiday season can be a tough time for some.

“While for many this is a joyous season, it is also a time when many feel alone, sad, or missing someone—please come together and support your local community.”

And that’s what the community did…
