Clinton Board Hears Views Against Redesigning Spaces

The Village of Clinton Board met Wednesday night to discuss new business.
The Board approved a resolution approving the July 8 meeting minutes.
The Board approved a resolution auditing the payment of vouchers.
The Board held a public forum to discuss residents' concerns about changes to parking around the Village Green due to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative project to redesign the Green.
Village of Clinton Mayor Elizabeth Tantillo explained the Village will conduct a parking study to determine how to manage Village parking most effectively.
The Board approved a resolution appointing Fishbeck as the Parking Study Consultant.
A resident spoke with the Board highlighting concerns about the project development process, stating they were unaware of the loss of parking spaces with the redesign of the Green and presented a petition to not remove parking spaces.
The petition contained 164 signatures.
Of those 94 were from either village businesses or residents.
The other 70 signatures came from Kirkland residents, and nearby cities and villages as far as Syracuse.
Five were from out-of-state residents.
A resident asked about how the village’s Parking Committee is constructed.
Tantillo said Boardmember Howie Schaffer is chairing the committee and the adjunct committee members would be community residents.
Tantillo said the next step in the process for the Green is determining design elements.
Construction is expected to start April 2027.
A resident asked about the loss of parking spots in the Lumbard Hall lot.
Tantillo said 13 spots will remain after the Green is extended.
A resident suggested painting designated spaces on Williams Street and College Street and asked if the changes will make pedestrian crossing easier.
Tantillo said part of the redesign would make pedestrian crossings more convenient.
