CCS Board Hears Support To Keep Coach

The Clinton Central School Board of Education met last month to discuss new business.
The Board hosted a Meet The Candidates forum with incumbent Boardmembers Rachel Clark, Patrick LaVeck, and Sam Catterson.
Each spent time discussing their background in their communities and personal philosophies, as well as their contributions with the Clinton School Board and goals for their next terms.
CCSD Superintendent Christopher Clancy and Business Administrator Ethan Martin gave a final budget presentation.
The proposed budget for the 2026-27 school year is for $34,485,229, representing an increase of $613,417 or 1.81%.
The Tax Levy is increasing 2.85% by $498,850 to $18,001,177.
The Property Tax Cap rate is increasing 2.85%. Clancy and Martin discussed the list of decisions regarding closing the $1,284,386 budget gap.
The three propositions for voter approval were discussed regarding the Budget Proposal, a retroactive increase to the 2019 Capital Project of $294,000 for work on the campus baseball and softball fields, and a $365,718 levy for the Kirkland Town Library.
All of the above passed after the May 19 public vote.
Clancy began his Superintendent's report congratulating the students who participated in the Olympics for the Visual Arts Competition.
The High School Photography Team placed second.
The High School Drawing Team placed second.
Clancy also congratulated the HS Fashion, Illustration, Painting Sculpture, and Architecture teams on competing.
Student Ex-Officio Boardmember Antimo Pellechia spoke about the experience of competing in the 2026 Envirothon.
Clinton teams placed second and third overall in tests about Aquatics, Soils, Wildlife, Forestry, and Current Events.
