Residents of the Town of Brookfield can weigh in on whether shops can be set up for the sale and consumption of marijuana.
At last week’s October Town Board meeting, Board members scheduled a public hearing to open their next meeting Monday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The hearing will allow residents to share their views before the Board votes later that night.
Also at last week’s meeting, Town Supervisor Loren Corbin said the tentative 2022 town budget falls under the state’s tax levy formula. The increase will come to just under 12 cents more per assessed $1,000. For a house assessed at $100,000, that will be another $11.95 on the tax bill.
A public hearing and detailed explanation of the budget will be at a public hearing before the 7 p.m. meeting Nov. 8.
Also at that meeting a public hearing on the contracts for fire protection in the districts of Bridgewater and Unadilla Forks will start at 6:30 p.m.
The Town continues to gather information to put together regulations on commercial solar farms.
The Highway Department will submit $200,000 in work done for the CHIPS reimbursement program.
Brookfield and the Town of Hamilton will rent a shoulder machine for $2,000 each.
Some machinery was identified to put up for auction, Corbin said.
For $2,000 the Town had some trees removed near the Town Hall.
