The Town of Winfield Board met Wednesday evening to discuss new business.
MJ Engineering and representatives of the New York State Department of Transportation met with the Board to discuss the specifics of the Route 20 Bridge replacement project.
After assessing the state of the current bridge, it's been judged to not be performing to standards. Sidewalks are going to be installed on both sides of the road, crosswalk and signage will be updated, and landscaping and architectural upgrades are also under discussion.
There is an expected four to six week detour route using the previous detour route. There won't be any work done on North Street while another detour is in effect.
Specifics of the project are open for discussion until June and a temporary sidewalk reroute is planned. There will be a sidewalk then traffic barrier then chain-link fence.
There's coordination with the Mount Markham Central School District to address the availability of the bridge in the ensuing school year.
Town Trash Day has been rescheduled from April 30 to April 23. Shredding will be available.
A resolution to approve a purchase order for six chairs was postponed to a future meeting as Boardmember Sue Korosec did not attend the meeting to cast a vote.
Two bids have been received for the Town Park Bridge Replacement project. Boardmember Jay Kulczak said, "We are getting prices and then getting a gameplan together."...
