The proposed 2023-24 budget that will go to Brookfield Central School District residents next week will significantly bump up the academic and mental health offerings.
BCS’s budget of just under $8 million is an increase of $350,000 from this year’s budget. Three-quarters of that increase comes in programming.
At a special Budget Meeting/Public Hearing last week, Business Manager Tiffany Lopesz outlined the highlights of the budget that voters will decide on Tuesday, May 16. Voting is from noon to 8 p.m.
BCS would hire four new teachers if approved. An instrumental/music teacher, elementary special education teacher, an Earth science teacher and art teacher would be added to the staff.
The Safe Schools Mohawk Valley program begun this spring will continue for a full year.
