Former Police Chief Daniel J. English, who retired from the Kirkland Police Department in 2019, was selected as Police Officer of the Year by the American Legion of New York Oneida County Branch. His selection was in recognition of his 41 years of service to the community and law enforcement. In addition to the 39 years he served with the Clinton and/or Kirkland Police Departments he also served with the New Hartford, Ilion and Sherrill Police Departments. Making the presentation were George Reschetnikow (Post Commander Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232), English and Paul Wojcik (Oneida County American Legion Chairman of the Law and Order Committee).
