Clinton Awards Water System Bid

The Village of Clinton Board met last Monday evening to discuss new business.

The meeting took place under the gazebo in Village Park with a brisk wind celebrating the start of May.

The stormwater public hearing was opened to begin the meeting by Mayor Steve Bellona. The recommendation of town engineer Tim O'Hara to award the water systems improvement bid to Joseph J. Lane Construction for $377,888 was approved.

The $488,000 in the capital water fund is covering the cost.

The Memorial Day Parade was canceled due to restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic. The Clinton VFW is planning a private wreath laying ceremony instead.

A new water rate permit to reduce the water rate was approved. It's effective Oct. 1 and will lower the rate from $100 to $70 per year.

Brad Dunda was accepted as the new Village of Clinton Fire Chief. He had been serving as assistant chief under Chief Jim Scoones.

The Community Collection Day application for the Village Green was approved for June 6.

The Stormwater public hearing was closed and the stormwater annual report was approved.

A comment from a citizen on Williams Street said it was a mistake for the village to plant more oak trees on the street. "Our yard is full of acorns every year. The squirrels have a field day," the person told the board.
