State Recognition Goes To Clinton


For the third year in a row, Clinton High School was named a New York State Recognition School.

“It's a collective effort of the community," CCS Superintendent Dr. Stephen Grimm said. "It's a result of the support from staff, students, and families at all levels for each of the students."

In the first year, 2017, the honor led to the High School being named a National Blue Ribbon School. Grimm said a number of successful factors were considered, including high scores on math and ELA assessment tests, graduation rates and high attendance rate.

The Clinton Board of Education met remotely last Tuesday evening to discuss new business.

Grimm also happily announced three CCS varsity teams qualified as Scholar Athlete Award recipients. Congratulations went to the girls indoor track team, girls ice hockey and girls basketball for at least 75 percent of the Warriors achieving a 90 grade average or higher.

As Clinton continues to use online education since March 16, CCS Elementary Principal Ellen Leuthauser said a system for struggling students has been installed. The class lists for next year are being made, expecting to be sent with the final report cards.

Elementary School students made an Earth Day Celebration video and Miss You videos from their homes. They used material from nature to make whimsical woodland habitats.

A virtual field trip was taken to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by students. Student of the Week is continuing. First Grade students are sharing a Flat Teacher project. Teachers mailed students a flat version of themselves and asked students to show the flat teacher doing something.

The Nailed It Challenge is continuing as students keep baking up goodies.
