In the theme of bittersweet Senior nights, Waterville's visit to Sauquoit was spoiled when the hosting Indians outscored WCS 15-7 in the fourth quarter to win 57-55 in their Senior Night Celebration.
Waterville’s Tyson Maxam scored the first basket of the game off a pass from Darren Johnson. Connor Marriott then finished a steal and Waterville was up 4-0.
SV made a layup and then a 3-pointer to take the lead. Maxam made another layup and Nathan Johnson got a defensive rebound.
SV blocked a shot and Johnson got a steal that led to Maxam assisting Cole Pearsall on a layup. WCS turned it over and Pearsall got a block before another WCS turnover led to Pearsall drawing a charge.
Waterville turned it over again and fouled the shooter for two free throws. Pearsall made a layup off a pass from Johnson and after a Sauquoit charge, Waterville turned it over.
Sauquoit drew a foul and made the free throw. Maxam got a steal after another WCS miss and made one technical free throw. Pearsall got the offensive rebound and Darren Johnson made a layup, getting Maxam an assist.
Maxam made another free throw and Nathan Johnson got a steal to end the first quarter with Waterville winning 14-11.
Darren Johnson got a steal to start the second quarter and two offensive rebounds in a row before Nathan Johnson got another offensive rebound and putback to extend the lead. Maxam made a double clutch layup and was fouled and made the free throw.
