Oneida Ends Clinton’s Win Streak At 10


The Clinton boys varsity basketball team’s midseason winning streak ended at 10 games after the Warriors' 78-63 loss at home to Oneida.

Oneida won the tip and missed their first shot of the game, rebounded by Clinton's Tanner Deveans. Clinton missed and Oneida missed again before Eddie Llanos hit Josh Wilcox with a pass and Wilcox drained the midrange jumper with a shooter's roll.

Oneida was fouled and made a free throw. The teams traded possessions with fouls before Oneida used a fast break layup to take the lead 3-2. Clinton missed a shot and Oneida made another layup after a Wilcox block.

Clinton missed on the next possession and Oneida made a jumper to extend their lead to seven at 9-2. Matthew Wagner found Deveans for a layup with a good pass and Seamus Gale picked off a pass and drove for a foul.

Gale made both free throws and the score was 9-6 Oneida. Oneida made a free throw and Clinton missed but Gale grabbed the offensive board. Noah King tipped in a missed shot to get the game within two points, but Oneida answered with a layup.

After an empty possession, Oneida scored and was fouled for a three-point play. Oneida stole the ball and finished a layup before Deveans scored a layup.

Deveans then got a steal and finished it through contact but Oneida made a jumper before the end of the quarter to push their lead to 19-12.

Oneida made a free throw to start the second quarter...
