Clinton Wins League Title


The Clinton girls ice hockey team used a dominating game on Senior Night to finish off their regular season careers at home with a 6-0 win last Saturday.

Clinton got the scoring vs. Massena started early when freshman Drew Kopek broke away for the first goal unassisted. She found herself on a quick breakaway with 1:40 left in the first period and beat the goalie.

The rest of the first period was more evenly matched as both teams made plays and played hockey. Towards the end of the first period, Abby Kurdziolek scored the second Clinton goal, flinging it past the goalie glove side high to give Clinton a 2-0 lead to end the first period.

Clinton got their first scoring contribution from a senior for the game at the end of the second period when Isabella Callahan scored to give Clinton a 3-0 lead entering the third period. Senior goalie Hailey Millington collected 22 saves in her fifth shutout as the Warriors ran their unbeaten streak to eight games.

Clinton scored three more goals in the period on the strength of two Briana Rockwood goals and one goal from Mia Lopata, who also had two assists to reach her 50th career...
