During the break two local basketball players reached the 1,000-point milestone with big games. Clinton senior Tanner Deveans (5) scored 36 points in the Warriors’ 64-59 win over Herkimer in the Cooperstown Tournament in the consolation game. In the opening round, the Warriors came close to upsetting host Cooperstown by scoring 28 points in the fourth, but the state-ranked Hawkeyes won 66-63. Also starting 2020 as a 1,000-point scorer is Brookfield junior Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott. Vleer-Elliott (21) scored 26 points as the Beavers won the Edmeston Tournament by beating the hosts to remain unbeaten.
