High school sports teams started their quests for titles last week with the opening round of playoffs. Justin Zike and Nathan Belouin move to keep the ball away from the Waterville goal in their opening game. For Clinton Betsy Gale moves to pass around a Camden player in their first-round game. State rankings also reflected the success of several teams, with Clinton football returning to the poll at No. 19 and Waterville football receiving Honorable Mention. Clinton boys soccer moved to No. 6 and the Clinton girls went to No. 12. Waterville girls soccer also moved up to No. 6, with Waterville boys cross country taking the No. 8 spot. Clinton girls cross country took the No. 7 spot.
