The Clinton Warriors varsity football team won their third game of the season and second in a row with their 21-0 smacking of Mount Markham.
Mount Markham came into the game at 3-0 and ranked No. 18 in the state.
It was a physical game from the very start and Clinton sent the message on Mt. Markham's opening drive when they forced the punt after giving up a first down run. Clinton's Carter Hinderling had three tackles on the drive.
When Clinton got the ball, Hinderling and Tanner Deveans split carries for a first down. Deveans hit Kole Davignon with a pass for eight yards on first down, but Clinton couldn't pick up the next three yards and a Deveans quick kick left the ball downed at the one-yard line for Mt. Markham’s offense.
Mt. Markham then broke off a nine-yard rush and a 31-yard pass.
Now facing a third and one, Hinderling made the tackle for loss to force a fourth down, but a penalty gave Mt. Markham a new set of downs. The Mustangs backed up 10 yards because of a hold.
On second and 19, their QB scrambled for 30 yards. They split rushes for another first down and then stalled…
