The Waterville Indians football team rebounded last week for their first win of the season in a thrilling double-overtime game against Thousand Islands Friday night.
After the excitement and nerves of week one, the team responded with a strong game overall to take the win.
After a long bus ride for the visiting team, Thousand Islands had no issues getting ready for the game as they forced Waterville to punt without a first down on WCS' first possession. Thousand Islands picked up a first down on their first play from scrimmage before converting a fourth and seven for a first down.
On fourth and 11 on the next set of downs, Waterville deflected the pass to force a turnover on downs. Waterville punted again on fourth down and Thousand Islands took over around the 50-yard line. They were forced to punt after failing to convert a long third down after a block in the back penalty.
Waterville punted after going three and out again and Thousand Islands took over. They picked up a first down on a screen pass before stalling on the next set of downs.
