Because of their last names, ten years, two little second-graders at Memorial Park School shared a locker.
The girls - Liliana Freytag and Kathleen Gallagher - bonded over their shared space assigned because of the alphabet. They became, and remain, best friends.
Next week those two former lockermates will lead their Waterville Central School Class of 2019 in the school’s 145th commencement Saturday, June 22 at the High School. Gallagher is the valedictorian and Freytag the salutatorian.
