Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
We shop local. Do you?
This Valentine’s Day as you say, “I love you,” to your significant other, don’t forget to share the love with our community.
For this Valentine’s Day, shop local.
The Village of Clinton, for example, has all of your Valentine’s Day needs. There are specialty stores in the Village that sell unique cards, which you won’t find in a big-box store. There’s a liquor store that has a bottle of wine for two. The florist in Clinton has the flowers you’re looking for, too. There are even shops that sell chocolate in the Village.
If traditional gifts like flowers, chocolate and wine are not your style, there are stores that sell art, handcrafted items, clothing and more.
Clinton, however, is not the only place in our area that has stores owned by local residents. We live in a wonderful area full of locally owned businesses. From Clinton to Waterville to Madison and everywhere in between, there are mom-and-pop shops that would welcome your post-Christmas patronage.
Share the love this Valentine’s Day. Before purchasing that ordinary, run-of-the-mill gift for your significant other, consider getting a gift from one of the many locally owned businesses in our area.
In addition, the area’s numerous restaurants offer great places to share a Valentine’s meal with your loved one.
Not only will you be helping the local economy, but you’ll also be helping a neighbor. - By Zach Lewis
