Augusta Applies For Block Grant

The Town of Augusta board voted to apply for a state Community Development Block Grant.

Although no members of the public attended the hearing in June, the board voted 3-0 (with two members absent) to apply for the state funding.

In other matters, Carl Lindberg, who has participated in a reval of the Town of Burlington, gave some suggestions of money-saving ways to complete a reval at a lower cost with savings of 50 to 60 percent. Town Assessor Steve Roys has said the property value inventory cards are in his opinion updated, which is a great cost during a reval.

Councilman Jim Dowd explained the Board’s hesitation falls both in the total cost and the Board of Assessment Review decisions on Grievance Day.
