Groups Want Ice Time Rescheduled

Representatives of Clinton Youth Hockey and the Clinton Figure Skating Club both brought concerns about ice time scheduling at the Clinton Area to the Kirkland Town Board’s meeting last Wednesday.

Clinton Youth Hockey coach Doug Soika explained the scheduling of practice time on the ice has become considerably more complicated in recent years. Both of the groups vie also with the hockey teams from Clinton Central School, who use the ice for both practice and home games.

With membership coming from out of the immediate area for both youth hockey and figure skating it’s getting harder to skate in the non-prime slots of before-school and night hours, he said.

He asked if the town board could oversee scheduling at the Clinton Arena, which is owned by the town, to make sure each of the organizations received an equitable amount of ice time based on the numbers involved in their programs.
