
The Clinton Central School Board of Education acted to immediately go into executive session at the beginning of their special meeting last Tuesday.
That left some 25 audience members waiting for what they initially anticipated would be about 45 minutes of discussion before the public portion of the meeting.
More than 90 minutes later, however, and coupled with a half-hour evacuation after the school’s fire alarm system forced the evacuation of the building, that crowd still waited, wondering what was happening in the board meeting room at the June 5 meeting.
District Superintendent Dr. Steve Grimm said they discussed “a personnel matter,” which is appropriate to do only in executive session, specifically for “discussing the employment history of a particular teacher.” Although there could have been action taken following that discussion, they ended up making no decision at that time, he said.
