Memorial Day Will Be Busy


Memorial Day will be celebrated in the area with a variety of parades and services Monday, May 28.

In Waterville, the parade begins down Main Street at 9 a.m. Participants will march to Soldiers and Sailors Monument Park, where Brookfield Town Supervisor John Salka will be the guest speaker.

In Clinton, this year’s parade is sponsored by the Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9591 in conjunction with Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232. The Clinton Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the College Street bridge.

Following a brief ceremony at the bridge a Memorial Day service will be in the gazebo in the Village Park.

Deansboro’s parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at the Deansboro Cemetery, where there will be a ceremony.

Oriskany Falls starts its parade at noon, concluding with ceremonies and music at Douglass Park.

The Johnson-Rogers American Legion Post in Brookfield will conduct the following ceremonies:

Unadilla Forks: 8:30 a.m.; Leonardsville: 9 a.m.; South Brookfield: 9:30 a.m.; North Brookfield: 10 a.m.

The parade in Brookfield begins at 10:30 a.m.

The Knoxboro parade starts at 9 a.m.

The Madison parade starts at 11 a.m.
