Chuck Engle of Oriskany Falls, who guided the Mount Markham boys varsity soccer team to 654 wins, will be inducted into the New York State Athletic Hall of Fame.
Engle retired in 2016 with more wins than any other boys soccer coach in state history. The Induction ceremony July 25 in Lake Placid will also include athlete Abby Wambach.
A graduate of Oriskany Falls High School in 1964, Engle went to Brockport College to earn his bachelor’s degree in 1966. He started coaching and teaching in 1968 at the former Leonardsville Central School. After a year Leonardsville merged with Bridgewater and West Winfield Central School to form Mount Markham High School.
