A new historical marker at the four corners in West Winfield commemorates the early history of the village, when it was originally known as Watkins Mills. Winfield Town Historian Steve Davis talked about the formation of the village and the development of Route 20. The sign came from a grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation from an application by the Route 20 Association. Route 20 representative Bill Kwasniewski said the Association has helped get seven historical markers in the area with two more being done this summer. West Winfield Mayor Jim Thomson said the marker is one of several good things happening in the village this year. He, Kwasniewski and Davis unveiled the marker.
