Richfield Springs Grads Ready For The World


Twenty-three graduates of the Class of 2022 embarked on the next chapter of their lives at Richfield Springs Central School’s 133rd Commencement Ceremony Friday, June 24.


RSCS Superintendent Thomas Piatti thanked the school faculty, staff, parents, and community members for their roles in helping the graduates on their road to adulthood. “Today is the culmination of years of education and graduation is the celebration of everything that has happened in that time,” Piatti said.


Board of Education member Nancy Duevel expressed the Board’s gratitude to the RSCS faculty, staff, administration, parents, coaches, and community members for their help in educating RSCS students.


Duevel reminded the Class of 2022 that even after graduation, “this community still cares for you and we are proud of you all.”


Class of 2022 salutatorian Roberta Schaefer-Gilbert, who will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study genetics and biomedicine in the fall, spoke about her happy memories at RSCS and her excitement to see what the future has in store. “I am going to miss seeing everyone I grew up with everyday,” Schaefer-Gilbert said.


Schaefer-Gilbert also advised her fellow graduates to “embrace your new freedom and the challenges it will bring…
