Plainfield Buys Radios For Highway Department

The regular meeting of the Plainfield Town Board was Dec. 2 at the Town Hall.

Dale Brown, Deputy Highway Superintendent, gave the report.

A letter was sent to a Town resident asking to relocate two trucks that are hindering safe passage for plows.

Law enforcement will be contacted if the vehicles are not timely relocated.

Three handheld internet radios for plow communication will be purchased using Covid relief funds. These radios should eliminate any deadspots in the Town.

Trial radios were used before purchase and proved to be acceptable for all communication.

Resident Cindy Hazecamp was recognized and spoke on the great shape the roads were in. Hazecamp is a bus dispatcher for the Mount Markham School District and relayed the bus drivers were very pleased.

The bridge on Scots Glen Road was struck by a Town of Exeter plow.

Pictures were taken of the damage.

Quotes for cutting edges for the plow blades were received from two vendors. A decision will be made soon.

A part-time plow driver was approved for hire on a call-in basis and an hourly wage of $20 with no other benefits. Lewis and Brown will interview candidates.

Truck 19 had a bad hydraulic pump. It has been repaired and is operational

Board member Dan Saunders presented Brown with information and costs of a retaining wall for highway bulk fuel storage.

Brown will advise on what he recommends.

The Board entered into an executive session from 7:30 to 8:10 p.m. to discuss a personnel issue.

Town Clerk Jon Cockett presented the report for November.

Total sales of $33 were disbursed as follows: $30 local share for minor sales/licenses and $3 to New York State for dog licenses.

The Highway Abstract of $7,691.46 and General Abstract of $9,756.84 were approved.

The Hometown Heroes program will be implemented in the Town.
