Makenzie Sayers, a Class of 2021 student at Mount Markham Central School, painted this picture titled ‘Our Community’, which was the Grand Prize winner in the Fenimore Art Museum’s Young at Art contest. Sayers described her work: Our Community was created in May. It was a time in New York when few left their homes and the positive cases seemed to be getting closer to home. The shelf with jars illustrates the hoarding of non-perishable food items. The jars themselves represent the feeling of being trapped and lonely in isolation. Each jar tells a different story.
