Insurance Change Saves Town Money


The Town of Kirkland Board met Wednesday evening to discuss new business.

The Board approved a resolution accepting the June 13 meeting minutes into Town records.

The 4th of July Celebration is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m on the Green.

A reminder there is one Town of Kirkland Board meeting scheduled for July.

Town of Kirkland Supervisor Bob Meelan said he met with the Town Insurance Carrier and the Retiree Insurance will be changed. Meelan said in cooperation with the Broome County Purchasing Alliance the change is expected to save the Town a cost of $52,000 yearly.

The Board approved a resolution accepting the change in insurance and authorizing budget amendments for the change.

The next Town of Kirkland Board meeting is scheduled for July 13.
