Improvements Planned For Baseball Field

At the annual reorganizational meeting the Oriskany Falls Village Board passed next year’s budget, adjusted some policies and extended the time for a resident to fix a water leak.


No members of the public attended the public hearing on the 2026-27 budget that begins June 1.


Not much changed in spending from this year to next; in fact, expenses are projected to drop a little under $1,000, to $565,608.


In revenue, next year the state funding for roads is expected to drop about $32,000.


The total to be raised by property taxes will go to $210,770, up about $16,000 from this year.


That is expected to raise the rate per $1,000 assessed value from $15.01 to $15.93.


Board members also approved the water and sewer rates for next year.


Water rates will increase to $44 for village residents and $63 for users outside the village, as of July 1.


Policy updates included the village credit card and purchasing approvals and quotes based on cost of the expense.


Purchases up to $2,000 can be made by the department head providing there is money budgeted.


Up to $5,000 includes two quotes and mayoral approval as well.


Up to $10,000 includes Board member approval and $20,000 and over requires three quotes as well.


Monthly meetings will be the third Tuesday of the month A quote by Brookside Landscaping of Madison was accepted to make improvements on the Maple Avenue Little League field.


Work will include clearing brush along the fence, adding a load of infield dirt and level the field.
