Although the weather was threatening, it did not rain on the 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk for Veterans Saturday, June 19 at the Town of Winfield Memorial Park.
A special thank you to Commander Walter J. Will of the American Legion Post 1058 for the color guard, which was a combination of American Legion Post 1058 and VFW 2338.
Also special thanks to Pastor Ken from the Federated Church for the blessing, and all of our sponsors, supporters and volunteers that made this event a success.
The run is part of the Route 20 Road Challenge.
Overall male winner was Mathew Downs with a time of 19:29 and overall female winner was Liz Fish with a time of 25:40. They were presented red, white and blue hanging baskets of petunias donated by Casler Flower Farm.
The Fulton-Hamilton-Herkimer-Montgomery District Order of the Eastern Star was joined by special guests MW Grand Matron Jane Stuart, MW Grand Patron Michael Kessler, the District’s own Past Grand Matron Ruth M. Howe and Past Grand Patron Leland Barnes, in the presentation of $3,500 to Richard Synek, founder of Feed Our Vets, and Joseph Ancona, Pantry Director.
The Feed Our Vets facility is in New York Mills.
