Butternut Barn Primitives of Richfield Springs is celebrating its 50th year in business this month.
“Time just goes by so quickly that it is hard to believe I am starting my 50th year in business,’’ said Shopkeeper Judie Stone.
“I had been a real estate agent back when banks were not lending funds. Spending a lot of time and money I went three years without selling a single property. Stone said her family and friends suggested she start her own business.
“With a $300 personal loan from a close friend, I became the proprietor of Butternut Barn Primitives,’’ Stone said.
Located in a historic two- story carriage house in Richfield Springs, The Shop originally operated only in the groom’s quarters and hayloft of the upstairs of the carriage house.
As interest in early antiques and primitive décor grew, the business expanded seven years later to include the downstairs horse stalls as well, creating the eight-room experience visitors enjoy today.
Butternut Barn Primitives offers a truly unique shopping experience.
The Barn features rooms thoughtfully decorated with early antiques and primitive wares, allowing visitors to see inspiring ways to display these timeless pieces in their own homes.
From the moment you enter the atmosphere of the barn,it is a warm welcoming feeling that invites you to slow down, linger a bit and imagine simpler times.
For five decades, Butternut Barn Primitives has remained dedicated to offering antiques and primitive pieces.
Butternut Barn Primitive invites the community to the 50th Year Celebration, “Something To Crow About” Saturday, April 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
