At their October meeting, the Augusta Town Board discussed a request to revise their ordinance on solar power projects.
Members of the Zoning and Planning boards requested that the Town Board find an expert in solar matters. Their request said they felt they are not qualified on this complex matter.
Town Board members said both boards have the authority to find experts on matters before them. The town budget would compensate for any costs.
Councilman Jim Dowd said he would like the two boards to consider Vernon’s solar ordinance.
In other matters, the Board approved having the Town Court apply for funding from the Justice Court Assistance Program. The request will be for up to $30,000.
Highway Superintendent Phil Eaton said the bridge on Simmons Road will be one-lane until further notice. The bridge has been red flagged because of structural issues.
Eaton will meet with a grant writer for assistance on getting funds from the Bridge NY program.
Eaton asked for a town credit card for purchases. He currently uses his and submits for reimbursement.
Board members discussed whether to obtain a town credit card. They decided one was not needed.
Board members reviewed the snowplowing contract from Oneida County. As in previous years, Board members chose not to do it.
After the 45-minute public session the Board met for 30 minutes in executive session to discuss negotiations.
