Approval Needed For New Sidewalks

The Town of Kirkland Board met Monday evening to discuss new business.

The Board approved a resolution accepting the March 27 meeting minutes into record.

Town Attorney Anthony Hallak said, "I was contacted by Mr. Arcuri about forming a family leave policy and contacted by the Planning Board about a Dispensary and Cannabis Zone.

“If the zoning was consistent from the New Hartford line to the end of the zoning line it could be cost effective," he said.

There was a short discussion between Town of Kirkland Supervisor Bob Meelan and Hallak about zoning for a cannabis dispensary.

Meelan said the Town of Kirkland Police Department helped at the Clinton Figure Skating Club’s Ice Show and reported it was a great performance.

The Kirkland Town Park is scheduled to open May 1.

Meelan said "In the Town of Kirkland you have to have a special use district to install the two DRI sidewalk projects. I'm sending a letter to each of the residents in the districts for comment because you need 80% approval to be able to do the project."

The Board held a discussion about a speed zone change on Kellogg Road.

The Board agreed to submit the paperwork to New York state requesting a speed reduction for part of the road.

The Board approved a resolution approving the auditing of bills.

The next Town of Kirkland Board meeting is April 24 at 5 p.m.
