The Clinton Central School Board of Education met via YouTube livestream last Tuesday night for new business and a workshop on the reopening plans for Clinton Central Schools.
A policy updating the Mission and Vision statements for the District was approved before the Board adopted the proposed District Strategic Goals for the 2020-21 school year.
The workshop began with District Superintendent Dr. Stephen Grimm reviewing the different sections of his presentation such as the communication plan, common areas of interest from people, and his recommendation for the district.
He said the decision-making process has been a collaborative effort with stakeholder involvement with the focus of priorities being on safety and education for students.
Questions from Board members brought up concerns about numerous potential issues. These included consistent Internet access for online students, how the schools will maintain social distancing for in-school students, how to stay up to date with every student’s development throughout the school year, and the variety of in-school and at-home students across the grade levels.
Grimm said if parents provide their students with a quiet place for studying and schoolwork it would help immeasurably.
