Times Radio is back. We are live every Sunday at 2:00 p.m. on 88.7-FM WHCL.
We will continue to broadcast through Hamilton College’s 2020 spring semester.
For our first show back in the studio since December, we sat down with members of Sunrise Movement Hamilton College.
According to the group’s website, “Sunrise Hamilton is a movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. We are a chapter, or “hub,” of the national Sunrise Movement. We are committed to climate justice for all members of society and prioritizing those in frontline communities. It is our job to build people power, which will translate to political power. The climate crisis demands nonviolent, collective direct action, active civil disobedience, and mass noncooperation; we refuse to participate in our own extinction. For the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places we call home: we fight.”
The group was formed in the fall of 2019 at the college.
Hub coordinators Madison Lazenby, Zoe Sauvé, and Eric Stenzel visited the studio on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Sauvé spoke about what the group does on the Hamilton College campus.
Lazenby discussed Fossil Fuel Divestment Day, which takes place on February 13.
With 2020 being a presidential election year, candidates are talking about climate change. Which candidate lines up best with the group's message? Stenzel explained.
