Climate Group Discusses Plans

The Clinton/Kirkland Climate Preparedness Working Group was formed in 2019 to begin discussions on how to best prepare for and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Members include representatives of the Clinton and Kirkland municipal boards, Hamilton College, Clinton Central School, and the general community.

CKCPWG is hosting a presentation regarding New York’s Climate Smart Community program Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Kirkland Town Hall.

CSC is a New York State program that helps local governments take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. The program offers free technical assistance, grants, and rebates for electric vehicles.

The presentation will follow a brief town board meeting. Representatives of New York’s Office on Climate Change will provide information on the CSC program to the Clinton village and Kirkland town boards.

The presentation is open to the public. All interested in learning more about the CSC program and local efforts to create a more sustainable Clinton and Kirkland are invited to attend.

The full story is in this week's edition of the newspaper.
