Clinton Wins At The Buzzer

December 17, 2019

As far as regular season games decided in regulation go, this was not a regular game.

Clinton boys varsity basketball earned their first win of the season in dramatic fashion when Brody Glindmyer scored with 1.7 seconds left to secure the home win 54-52 over Westmoreland. The Warriors kept the momentum and excitement going later in the week, bringing home a 67-64 win over Oneida in overtime.

Home vs. the Bulldogs, it took a few minutes for either team to get it going offensively in the first quarter. Defense made the plays early on.

Eddie Llanos' first steal of the game helped Clinton get some momentum built. Despite Westmoreland scoring the first points of the game, Clinton would go on a run to secure the lead in the first quarter.

All that inspired the Clinton pep band, which kept things lively during the game.

Noah King finished an acrobatic up and under layup for Clinton's first points. King then made two free throws to take the lead 4-2. Llanos grabbed another steal and finished the layup to continue the run.

Tanner Deveans hit a free throw and a jump shot before Seamus Gale made a runner to bring the score to 11-2. Westmoreland answered with a couple of buckets before Glindmyer hit a 3-pointer for Clinton's first double-digit lead of the game.

Josh Wilcox made a layup while spinning off his defender for his first points…
