Although not in the budget, the Waterville Fire Department will have corrosion on the undercarriage of some trucks repaired.
At last week’s Waterville Village Board meeting, WFD Chief Will Beach said truck 423 needs work on the undercarriage. The 1995 truck has rusting likely caused by salt on the winter roads.
Addressing the matter, Beach said, will extend the life of the truck another five years. Tanker 424 is also showing signs of damage from rusting, with the frame starting to swell.
While the budget line for truck repairs has been used, Mayor Gene Ostrander said there is money to do emergency repairs. The line was used up, Beach said, when a routine inspection of tires on a truck showed significant damage and tires had to be replaced.
