Warriors Beat Adirondack

October 22, 2019

The Clinton girls varsity soccer team celebrated Senior Night last Tuesday with a 2-0 win over the visiting Adirondack Wildcats.

That win, plus a 3-9 victory at Sherburne-Earlville to wrap up the regular season, put their record at 15-1-1, with 11 of those wins shutouts. Clinton outscored their opponents in those 17 games 75-7; four of those given up goals went to Central Valley in the only loss for Clinton.

Home vs. Adirondack, it was a fairly dominant performance from Clinton as they took the lead early and never let the Wildcats have a good chance to get back into the game.

Gwen Williams showed a lot of energy early when she was the first Clinton player to put a shot on goal less than five minutes into the game. Williams found her footing and her leg though, and with 30:35 to play in the first half, she scored on an unassisted shot from 35 feet.

Williams sent in a floater off her left foot that fell through the upper left corner of the goal for the 1-0 Clinton lead.

Adirondack was not going to lay down for Clinton so early however, and worked their offense upfield for a shot that was Kaitlynn Williams' first save of the game.

Clinton stayed aggressive in response and Graci Dreimiller found a shot on goal…
