Kirkland Presents Badges Of Honor

The Town of Kirkland Board met Sept. 25 to discuss new business.

 

Town Supervisor Bob Meelan presented retired Kirkland Police Chief Dan English with a commemorative badge and thanked English for his many years of loyal service. English retired last week after serving as police chief for the past 24 years.

 

Following that, Kirkland Police Officer Shawn Occhipinti was given a Gold Badge to recognize his raised position of authority within the Police Department. Occhipinti was given the badge by his daughter.

 

Occhipinti will serve as the department’s senior administrative officer to manage the department. His appointment was approved at the meeting.

 

The board also approved English as a non-competitive part-time Police Officer pending county approval.

 

The board approved Joseph Scarafile as a competitive part-time officer.

 

A resolution for a Fireworks Display permit for Brookdale Senior Living was approved. It is scheduled for Oct. 6.
