About 5 minutes into the second half, Waterville’s Taylor Hajdasz faked out one Cooperstown defender, leaned right then went left and sent the ball toward the Hawkeyes net with the little gap she had created.
The Cooperstown goalie, as she had all first half, came up with a big save to prevent the goal. While the Indians maintained high pressure throughout the rest of the game, which included an extra 20 minutes of overtime, Waterville could not get the ball in the net and had to take the 1-all tie vs. the visitors.
The Indians beat Utica Academy of Science 9-0 later in the week to improve to 5 wins and the tie.
Not that the Indians didn’t try hard from the opening minute to score on Cooperstown. Both Ella Hutchins and Julia Carter stepped up big early on with good shots on goal that were stopped by the Coop goalie.
