WCS Boys Beat Hamilton

Waterville boys varsity soccer snapped another long losing streak to an opponent last week while remaining unbeaten.

The Indians beat Hamilton 3-0 to give the Emerald Knights their first loss to Waterville in about 20 years. That win, plus another shutout over Sauquoit Valley, improved Waterville to 5-0.

Home against Hamilton, Waterville rolled to a 2-0 half on the strength of goals from Marco Barberi and Jacob Barth. Barberi scored first a little more than halfway through the period before Barth took a diagonal pass up close from Austin Hutchins to score.

Hutchins almost scored himself with 7:50 before the break, but a Hamilton defender cleared the ball.

Waterville’s defensive effort kept Hamilton from getting good looks. Five times freshman goalie Cole Pearsall stopped a shot, including a diving stop with 18 minutes to play.
