Sweet Sounds On The Banjo

It’s hard not to be impressed by someone who can play live music well. Using a musical instrument to its full potential is a hard thing to do.


An up-and-coming banjo player from Clinton makes playing the stringed instrument look effortless and flawless.


Dusty Lee Elmer is a banjoist who plays with the locally known band The Old Main. He’s also part of the duo Shanghai Rooster, and he’s played solo on many occasions.


Elmer, who went to school in Westmoreland and spent some time in Knoxboro, has been playing music since he was 11 years old. Drums and guitar were his instruments of choice back then. But, around the age of 21, Elmer had a new favorite instrument, the banjo.
