WCS Considers New Approach To Problems

After Waterville Central School District Business administrator Tracy Leone heard about a problem-solving idea, the WCS Board of Education might give it a try.

 

Leone told the board at the first June meeting that the approach to issues was called consensus building. At last week’s short BOE meeting, board members spent most of the 30 minutes discussing how that might look at WCS.

 

Consensus building involves bringing in several parties to figure out answers to a problem. People break into small groups, come to an agreement, then meet as a larger group to share ideas and find a universal answer.

 

Superintendent Chuck Chafee gave the board an example of how it could be used. Chafee wants to develop a more formal approach to expose students to various ways families can communicate and interact.
