Delay Given On Demolition

June 27, 2018

The Village of Waterville’s plans to knock down a condemned house on Berrill Avenue appear put off until next year.

At last week’s Village Board meeting, Trustee Dan Nichols said he spoke to officials in the City of Rome about the schedule. Through Oneida County’s Shared Services initiative, Rome will take care of the demolition of 107 Berrill Ave.

Nichols said Rome has 14 houses in the city that have to be taken down this year, backing up their schedule to help other municipalities.

Board members discussed briefly in the 90-minute meeting hiring a company for the demolition, but the village would have to pay that full cost. Waterville took ownership of the house to get it knocked down through the county’s Shared Services program. Oneida County will help pay some of the cost.
