Marshall Appoints Board Member

At the May meeting of the Marshall Town Board, Colleen Baldwin of Route 12 was appointed to the open Council seat vacated by Sue McConnell who was appointed Supervisor in April.

Baldwin, who held the paid position of Chairperson of the Parks & Recreation Committee, has resigned that position to be on the Board, although she will still head up the committee. Her term as Councilwoman will be up at the end of 2018.

In other news, Dan Ford, Codes Enforcement Officer, reported to the Board that nine new houses have been built in the Town of Marshall, and two are coming up. He acknowledged that some homeowners in the Town persist in having trash around their homes. Town Attorney Bill Getman said there is "no easy solution" to that problem.

Ford can impose fines on those who do not clean up their properties, but said he has found that seldom works.
